Definition
Interim Order: An order that operates for a temporary period during the pendency of a case (e.g., an ad-interim stay until the next hearing date).
Interlocutory Order: Any order passed during the course of a suit between its commencement and final determination that settles an incidental or procedural point without deciding the ultimate controversy.
Example
An order directing the defendant to produce bank statements under Order XI CPC is an interlocutory order; an order restraining demolition until March 31 is an interim order.
