Definition
An FIR registered at any police station irrespective of territorial jurisdiction when information of a cognizable crime is received, which is subsequently transferred to the jurisdictional police station for active investigation.
Example
A victim assaulted on an interstate bus travelling through Madhya Pradesh lodges a Zero FIR at the bus terminal police station in Bhopal, which then transmits the case diary to the jurisdictional station in Gwalior.
