Decree Holder (Section 2(3) CPC)

Definition

Any person or entity in whose favor a civil court has passed a decree or an order capable of execution.

Example

In a suit where the Senior Civil Judge at Madurai orders the defendant to pay ₹12 lakh with interest to the plaintiff, the plaintiff becomes the decree holder entitled to initiate recovery proceedings under Order XXI CPC.
